It’s an exciting time to be aDCfan withJames Gunn’sSupermanreleasing in theaters in less than a month. The film kicks off a new DCU full of superheroes. That includes TheGreen Lantern Corps, which will have one member, Guy Gardner, playing a role in theDavid Corenswet-starring film. The super-powered police force will also be getting their own HBO series withLanterns. The series is filming now and is set to debut sometime next year. Now, before Green Lantern’s light is seen on screen,Funko has debuted their latest DC Pop figure.
A part ofFunko’s comic book coverline, #22 in the series,their new DC figure is Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern. Specifically, the cover is based onHal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps#6from 2016. As on the cover, Hal Jordan is seen in his classic Green Lantern costume and is ready for a fight with Sinestro’s Yellow Lantern Corps. There are a lot of great details in this piece, like the green energy beaming off Hal’s power ring. This is the second newGreen Lantern comic Funko Popthis year, joiningNathan Fillion’s Guy Gardnerin the company’s expansive DC collection. Like all previous comic cover releases, Hal will come in a clear plastic shell that can be mounted on the wall.

While many moviegoers still have the bad taste ofRyan Reynolds’Green Lanternin their mouth, Gunn’s universe is doubling down on this iconic superhero team. Fillion’s hot-headed Guy Gardner will be introduced inSupermanas a part of the “Justice Gang.” Other members of the team include Mister Terrific and Hawkgirl. He will then be a part ofLanterns.
There’s not much known about the plot ofLanternsyet, butthe series will follow Hal Jordan and John Stewart’s Green Lanterns in a space, cop crime drama-like show.Kyle ChandlerandAaron Pierrewill be playing the duo, respectively.Ulrich Thomsenwill be playing the evil Sinestro. We should learn more onceSupermanis released andLanternswraps production on Season 1.Lanternsis just one of the many shows in the new DCU alongsidePeacemakerSeason 2 and the animatedCreature Commandos.

When Does ‘Superman’ Release?
Even though DC fans are still waiting for the exact release date ofLanterns,Supermanwill be flying into theaters on July 11th. Before then, you can stream 2011’sGreen LanternonHBO Max.
