Filming continues onRidley Scott’sAlien: Covenant, the sequel toPrometheus. Fans have seen a few snaps from the set, includingKatherine Watersonchanneling Ellen Ripleyas Daniels, anew Xenomorph design, and the logo for the new pilot uniforms. Now, we’re rewarded with a familiar face.
The official Alien Anthology Twitter account released a behind-the-scenes photo from the set featuring the “creator,” Scott, and his “creation.” But a look at those in the backgrounds revealsMichael Fassbender’s return as the sneaky android David. When last we saw him, his decapitated head was joiningNoomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw as they departed their discovered planet to find where the Engineers came from. Elizabeth won’t be returning forCovenant, but David seems to have made it in one piece.

According to the film’s official plot,Covenantsees the crew of a new colony ship (called “Covenant”) landing on what they believe to be a utopian planet. They’ll soon learn that it’s dark and full of terrors, but not before coming across the territory’s solo inhabitant. Yup, you guessed it. It’s David.
Earlier this year, Fassbenderteasedthat there will be plenty of “aliens coming out of people,” in addition to “fantastic” sets. “You have this futuristic world where people are eating noodles, because that seems to be the cheaper food and something that will fill you up,” he said. “But it’s also something that harks back to the past. The weaving of those two things—past and future—together makes for an interesting world that we can aspire to, but also recognize something in it.”
