Apple TV+’s new sports comedyStickhas taken over the U.S. streaming charts, perFlixPatrol.It stayed in the #1 spot for the entire weekleading up to July 30. In doing so, it managed to beat out some of the platform’s biggest titles, likeSeverance,The Studio, and even more recent releases likeFoundationandMurderbot. The show premiered on June 4 andwrapped up its first season on July 22. Since then, it’s only picked up more attention, helped by strong word of mouth and a solid 82% rating onRotten Tomatoes.

There’s another reason whyStickhas suddenly gained momentum. Right after the Season 1 finale aired, Apple TV+ released ateaser confirming thatTed LassoSeason 4 is in production. That likely sent fansscrambling for something similar to watch, andStickfits that mold perfectly. At the same time,Happy Gilmore 2dropped on Netflix and opened to a record-breaking 46.7 million views in the U.S., making itthe biggest Netflix film debut everin the region. Withinterest in golfat a high, many viewers looking for a deeper or more emotional follow-up landed right onStick. Its timing couldn’t have been better.
Will There Be a ‘Stick’ Season 2?
Yes,Stickis officially coming back for a second season. Apple TV+ announced the renewal on the same day theSeason 1 finaleaired. Wilson will return as Pryce, and he’ll be joined by the rest of the main cast, includingPeter Dageras golf prodigy Santi,Marc Maronas Mitts,Mariana Treviñoas Elena, andLilli Kayas Zero.Season 1 ended with Santi urging Pryce to give pro golf another shot, so there’s a good chance viewers will see him step back into the game, possibly even setting up a Pryce vs. Santi showdown down the line.
