PopularITVdetective dramaGraceis officially back in action as production onSeason 6has kicked off in Brighton. The series, based on the bestselling novels byPeter James, has grown into a flagship title for the broadcaster, blending grittyBritish crime storytellingwith a stellar titular performance byLife on MarsandDoctor WhoalumJohn Simmas Detective Superintendent Roy Grace.
Since its debut in 2021,Gracehas seen its fanbase continue to expand thanks to itsprocedural intensityand much-lauded minimalist approach. The choice of Brighton as its filming location and the focus on quality over churning multiple episodes has endeared it to a fanbase that has embraced it as a breath of fresh airwithin a sub-genrethat, you can argue, has become oversaturated. With each season drawing from James’Roy Gracenovels, viewers are treated to adaptations that walk a fine line between literary loyalty and cinematic tension. Now, with cameras rolling on Season 6,fans can expect more of Roy Grace’s intriguing family life. An excited Simm reveals he’s excited about the forthcoming season, saying:

“This is the longest I’ve been involved in any show! Butit’s such a joy to do,and to be surrounded by a team like this for large chunks of the year makes it impossible to turn down. I’m really looking forward to seeing where Roy’s journey goes in this series.”
Returning alongside Simm isRichie Campbellas DS Glenn Branson, Grace’s trusted colleague and emotional anchor.Zoë Tapper, who plays mortuary technician Cleo Morey and Grace’s love interest, is also expected to reprise her role, althoughITV has yet to confirm the full returning cast.ITV has released an on-set photo (seen below) showing Simm, Campbell, andLaura Elphinstonewearing white forensic suits and bright blue disposable gloves. The series' executive producer,Phil Hunter, said, “Graceis such a joy to make, so we are thrilled at how well receivedseries fivewas. It’s great to be back in Brighton with our brilliant and talented cast and crew to shoot another four episodes this summer.”

Why ‘Grace’ Keeps Working
The magic ofGracelies in its balance. While some might argue it’s a bit too fast-paced compared to the source material, it maintains the character-driven focus of traditionalBritish detective dramas.GraceSeason 6 will feature four brand-new standalone films based on James' novels. The titles for series six, based on the books, will include: “Left You Dead,” “Picture You Dead,” and “One of Us Is Dead.” Filming will once again take place in and around the city of Brighton and Hove, staying faithful to the coastal setting. The seaside city’s moody weather and bleak architecture have provided the perfect backdrop for the show’snoir sensibilities.
Previous seasons ofGracecan be streamed on ITVX in the UK and BritBox in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
