Brie Larson’s star has been shining quite brightly for a while now but, in my eyes, 2013 marked a game-changing year for Larson because that’s when I first caught her performance inShort Term 12. The talent was evident well before that but Larson’s work inShort Term 12was so impassioned, raw, and struck such a significant emotional chord that, one, I’m confident in saying it’s a film I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life and, two, it’s a performance that signified that Larson was one of the best of the best. Then, sure enough, just a couple of years later,Roomcame out and Larson snagged her first Academy Award. But even with all that experience and an Oscar to her name, there’s no denying that joining a behemoth of a franchise like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite the undertaking.
