Last Tuesday, right before we were set to tapeCollider Nightmares, the first trailer for the feature film adaptation ofM. R. Carey’sbest selling novelThe Girl With All The Giftshit the web. The synopsis says that in the near future, humanity has been all but destroyed by a mutated fungal disease that eradicates free will and turns its victims into flesh-eating “hungries.” Only a small group of children seem immune to its effects. At an army base in rural England, this group of unique children are being studied, subjected to cruel experiments. Despite having been infected with the zombie pathogen that has decimated the world, these children retain normal thoughts and emotions. And while still being subject to the craving for human flesh that marks the disease these second- generation “hungries” are able to think and feel making them a vital resource in the search for a cure. The film starsSennia Nanuain the lead andGemma Arterton,Glenn Close, andPaddy Considine, the latest take on the zombie sub-genre opens in the UK this September with no release in the US slated at this time.

Jim Carreyhas come onboardSteven Spielberg’sAmblin Entertainment produced adaptation of the genre novelAleister Arcane. Set to be directed byEli Rothand based on the 2004 comic, The Hollywood Reporter notes that the comic tells the story of “a Los Angeles weatherman named Aleister Green who returns to his hometown to host a midnight horror show a la Elvira. Under the guise of a mad scientist named Aleister Arcane. However, an incident with two kids leads to him to be put on trial, breaking his spirit and putting him into an early grave. Not long after, grisly activities begin to occur and only the kids have the power to thwart the curse he has laid upon their town.” Carrey’s on screen role hasn’t officially been confirmed but everyone is assuming he’ll be portraying Arcane.

This week the trailer forMorgan, the directorial debut ofLuke Scott, son ofRidley Scott, hit the web. After a small and powerful teaser piqued the audience interest, the latest is a full three minute look at theKate Mara,Anya Taylor-Joysci-fi feature. According to Deadline, “Kate Mara stars as a corporate troubleshooter who’s sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.” The film hits theaters in September and many who have viewed the trailer fear it shows too much.

Almost HumandirectorJoe Begos’slatestThe Mind’s Eyecomes to theaters later this summer and fans looking forward to his sophomore effort were recently treated to a trailer for the film. Now, they’re getting even more of a look into the project with a bloody new poster.The Mind’s Eyetells the story of Zack Connors and Rachel Meadows, both of whom were born with incredible psychokinetic abilities. When word of their supernatural talents gets out, they find themselves the prisoners of Michael Slovak, a deranged doctor intent on harvesting their powers. After a daring escape, they are free from his sinister institution, but the corrupt doctor will stop at nothing to track them down so that he may continue to siphon their gifts for his own use. Hulu’s new anthology seriesDimension 404has added three new cast members to the previously announced namesLea Michelle,iZombie’sRobert BuckleyandTrophy Wife’sRyan Lee. This week we learned thatPatton Oswalt,Ashley Rickards, andSterling Beaumonhave joined the cast as well. Oswalt will play a loveable movie nerd who worships at the altar of cinematic history, Beaumon will join the previously mentioned Ryan Lee in an episode set in the 1980s revolving around an introverted video game addict, and Rickards a brilliant college student who embarks on a time-traveling adventure alongside the hero of her favorite 90’s era cartoon.Dimension 404has been ordered for six episodes and has not announced its premiere date yet.
