But what we have all heard little to nothing about is ifLuke Evanswould be reprising his role as Vlad The Impaler who later becomes Dracula. While not successful here in the states,Dracula Untoldwas a huge hit internationally and ended in present day which would allow some to assume that Evans’ Dracula could join the rest of the rebooted team. While promoting his latest film,The Girl On The Train, Evans was asked about his future role in the Universal Monsters franchise and told LRM.com that they have been talking about the universe and compared it to several Marvel films and their heroes.
Those looking for updates on theTexas Chainsaw Massacreorigin storyLeatherfacefrom Inside and Livide directorsJulien MauryandAlexandre Bustillogot a tiny little nugget courtesy of Bloody Disgusting who have reported that the MPAA has given the movie an R-rating for “strong bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexuality/ nudity.” While fans still have not gotten more than the teaser poster and anxiously await a trailer and a release date, Bloody Disgusting, who has been getting information from the shoot throughout the entire process, notes that the movie underwent heavy reshoots fairly recently.
Leatherface starsJessica Madsen,Stephen DorffandLili Taylorand is described by the directing team as “a brutal and nihilistic road movie that we hope will surprise and delight fans.”
While we’ve been hearing rumblings for a little while now, the directing trio that makes up RKSS Films have officially announced thatTurbo Kid 2is a go. They’re keeping plot details quiet, of course, butAnouk Whisselldid reveal that it “will be a direct sequel to the first film.” For those who are unfamiliar,Turbo Kidis the indie favorite that takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland and sees a comic book fan who dons the persona of his favorite hero to save his enthusiastic friend and fight a tyrannical overlord.

Westworld,Westworld,Westworld, you are finally here! The ambitious new science fiction drama premiered on HBO on Sunday and boy, does this show have a lot of promise. The panel gives their recap of the new HBO series.
If you are a fan ofThe Purgefilms, you have probably had the same thought that I have: Jeez, this should either be an anthology or a TV show! There is so much story when you compare Purge Nights in the first year, or the tenth year, in a big city, a conventional suburb or a rural small town. Now, according to franchise creatorJames DeMonaco, we will finally get our wish. DeMonaco told Cinemablend’s Eric Eisenberg that it’s “Not an anthology… I guess kind of an anthology – more of an interwoven anthology. They came to me about a TV show, my idea is that you do six or seven storylines. And I would kind of intercut them, use flashbacks.”
We all know that horror comedies can be hard to get right. One of the genre fan favorites over the last few years was the New Zealand comedyWhat We Do In the ShadowsstarringJemaine Clement.Taika Waititidirects (and co-stars in) the documentary style movie that followed a group of vampire roommates and their silly adventures. While a sequel titledWe’re Wolveswhich follows the foul-mouthed werewolves, who made a brief appearance in the original film, is in the works, we’ve now learned that a TV series that takes place in the universe will also be headed to New Zealand airwaves. A few weeks back, Clement had mentioned that he had pitched a TV series called Police Ten 7 that, according to Empire Online, “would focus on the film’s easily-manipulable police officers Mike and Karen.” Even though Clement thought the chances of the pitch going to series were slim, the series is a go under a new title, “Event Response Unit,” will see Mike and Karen protecting Wellington from the supernatural. The order includes six half hour episodes but we have no confirmation on who will air the series outside of New Zealand.
It’s finally October! And with that comes a bunch of activities and movies that remind us of the reason of the season. This week we’re introducing something new here, our own personal “Kill Lists,” lists intended to give you recommendations to get you into the Halloween spirit. Since we spend so much time talking about horror movies and how “they aren’t as good as they used to be” – which is nonsense – this week the panel is going to give you three of their favorite movies of the aughts or since the year 2000.
