It’s the age-old question thatDragon Ballfans have argued over forever. Who would win in a fight: Goku or Vegeta? The two main characters are among the strongest Saiyans in theDragon Balluniverse and went head-to-head several times, but one of their most impactful conflicts was in the 2022 movieDragon Ball Super: Super Hero. During an interview to promote thetankōbonrelease of the manga series,creator and writerToyotaroutalked about the duo’s fight, which happens during a post-credits scene.
The newest volume of the manga series was released this week, and the franchise’s official website unveiled an interview with the artist in which he himself brought up the rivalry between Goku and Vegeta. Toyotarou asked if interviewerMaria Makinoever wondered who was the strongest, and she commented about Vegeta defeating Goku in the movie. Toyotarou confirmed it and underscored that Vegeta’s victory was decided byAkira Toriyamahimselfbefore his death. The scene is now reproduced in the manga.
“I actually ended up drawing the showdown on Beerus' planet depicted in volume 24 after asking Toriyama about that very question around then. Of course I’d prefer if you read the book to learn more, but there’s a reason I included that scene…”
Toyotarou’s tease hinted at other elements that he stated are included in the newmanga volumethat weren’t part of the movie. He also revealed that the new volume brings forward not only the Goku and Vegeta rivalry, but also involves other super-strong characters like Piccolo, Broly and Gohan.
