There are plenty of movies coming to theaters this summer that are expected to be smash box office hits, but few have the same potential as the live-actionHow to Train Your Dragonmovie. The film is confirmed to be a shot-for-shot remake of the 2010 classic that grossed nearly $500 million and has beenhailed as one of the best animated films of all time. The casting team brought in some new names to star in leading roles, but one of the veterans reprising his voice role from the original film isGerard Butler, who will play Stoick. LEGO has unveiled a new Toothless the Dragon set from the upcomingHTTYDmovie, and used a newly-released video short of Gerard Butler putting it together to do so. The clip can be found below.
Chris SandersandDean DeBloisco-wrote and directed the originalHow to Train Your Dragonfilm, but DeBlois alone has been tapped to work on the sequel. However, Sanders still earned a writing credit on the 2025 movie for his work on the original. In addition to Butler reprising his role as Stoick,Mason ThamesandNico Parkerwill take over the lead roles of Hiccup and Astrid fromJay BaruchelandAmerica Ferrera. Thames is best known for his work inThe Black Phone, and Parker is famous for playing Sarah Miller in the first episode ofThe Last of Us. The rest of the live-actionHTTYDcast will be filled out byJulian Dennisonas Fishlegs,Gabriel Howellas Snotlout,Bronwyn Jamesas Ruffnut,Harry Trevaldwynas Tuffnut,Nick Frostas Gobber, andPeter Serafinowiczas Spitelout.
