It’s been some sort of unholy hell keeping up with news about theGhostbustersremake, which recasts the likes ofBill Murray,Harold Ramis,Dan Aykroyd, andErnie HudsonwithKate McKinnon,Melissa McCarthy,Kristen Wiig, andLeslie Jones. Not because the film looks unfunny or lazy or misguided, as one might have assumed, but rather because of the barrage of hate that the upcoming comedy has garnered for some utterly known reason. And yes, I’m sure that some of these complaints are based on a non-misogynistic dislike for the level of jokes or the remaking of a classic in any new form, but considering the level of hate for most newAdam Sandlerjoints isn’t even within spitting distance of whatGhostbustershas been dealing with, I’m thinking those are the minority in this case.
Regardless, the latest trailer for the comedy comes from Sony UK, and boasts quite a lot of new footage of the proton packs, new ghosts, and the containment unit, amongst other things. Though I can’t say thatGhostbustersis on my most anticipated list for summer movies, I will say that I found myself laughing more than once at these trailers, and I’m looking forward to seeing how directorPaul Feigand his cast & crew rethink one of the most classic comedies of the 1980s.
