If ever there was a procedural with nine lives it would beS.W.A.T.Over the course of its eight seasons, the show was canceled three times, with the latest one seeming to be the final nail in its coffin. But, just days following what was slated to be the series finale, an offshoot, titledS.W.A.T. Exiles, was ordered by Sony Pictures Television, pulling the title off the ledge once more. Now, original series star,Shemar Moore, who is set to reprise his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, took to social media to thank the fans for making the offshoot happen and even dropped the big reveal that cameras will pick up this summer.

The actor was nothing but smiles as he addressed the camera, cheerful about the continuation, giving a shout-out “To all my homies, fans and baby girls… to everybody out there around the world who have supported us for eight years, first of all, thank you. We couldn’t have done this without you.”

Continuing with nothing but gratitude and appreciation, Moore said,

“I know the sad news is we got cancelled, but the good news is we don’t stop fighting. And guess what happens when you don’t stop fighting? We won!S.W.A.T.ain’t going nowhere! Hondo ain’t going nowhere! There’s a new version ofS.W.A.T.comin’ your way… Hondo back in the building!S.W.A.T.back in the building! Say it loud, say it proud:S.W.A.T.and Hondo back in the building!”

What Will the New Series Be About?

As per the upcoming production’s logline,

“In this spin-off of the hit series, after a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits. Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.”

For now, we know thatLucifer’sJason Ningwill be joining the series as its showrunner, but other specific details are currently up in the air. Judging by how the logline reads, it sounds like Moore will be surrounded by a largely new group of performers, but there’s always a chance thatold faces from his pastcould come back to aid him in his latest efforts.
