Season 2 ofPercy Jackson & The Olympiansis just a few months away from its release, and its author,Rick Riordan, shares details about the show’s potential future. Whileseason 3 of the show has already been confirmed, details about what it would take to adapt the last two books have been revealed, giving fans a subtle hint about what needs to happen to give the show the full treatment it deserves.
At a Q&A viaGoodreads, Riordan was asked about the show’s potential fourth and fifth seasons, as there are five books in the main series. He said that while he’s keen aboutPercy Jackson’s future seasons, it all comes down to viewership numbers if the show were to continue or not. But despite this obvious condition, he’s hoping and assuming that Disney will give it the complete five-season arc treatment.

“I’m guardedly optimistic about future seasons. No one knows the answer right now. It will depend on continued viewership, but we’re certainly off to a great start! All I can say for certain is that everyone involved is hoping and assuming that we will have the full five-season arc, but we’ll just have to wait and see. As for how fast they will come out, the hope is certainly that we can pick up the pace of release dates, but a season still takes a long time to create, so I’m not sure exactly what that will look like.”
