Thefirst trailer forIt 2was released online today, and since the trailer debut was preceded by precisely zero official images from the film, we felt it prudent to go through the trailer and pull a handful of screengrabs to get a closer look at the sequel. The film—officially titledIt Chapter Two—adapts the second half ofStephen King’s bone-chilling novel, with directorAndy Muschiettionce again at the helm. The story picks up 27 years after the events of the first movie, with a swell ensemble playing the adult versions of the young kids.James McAvoystars as Bill Denbrough,Jessica Chastaintakes on the role of Beverly Marsh,Bill Haderis Richie Tozer,James Ransoneportrays Eddie Kaspbrak,Jay Ryantackles Ben Hanscom, andIsaiah Mustafais on board as Mike Hanlon.
While the bulk of the terrific trailer is from one specific sequence in the film, in which adult Beverly revisits her childhood home only to come face-to-face with Pennywise in disguise, there are some incredibly enticing shots peppered throughout the back portion of the trailer.

First of all, the visual representation of the adult actors as grown-up counterparts of the young kids from the first movie works wonderfully—especially Hader as a grown-upFinn Wolfhard. But there’s also quite a bit in Pennywise’s lair that we get to see, although it remains to be seen how much we’re seeing is at it is in the movie, and how much has been altered to avoid spoilers.
This is simply a teaser trailer so there’s plenty more where this came from, but this is certainly a great start and I can’t wait to see this thing in theaters this fall. Check out the images below andclick here to see the new poster. It Chapter Twoopens in theaters on September 6th.
