However, that didn’t stop it from grossing $760 million at the box office against a $200 million budget.

During a 2018 interview withCollider, Statham describedHobbs & Shawas “hardcore” and “a little darker.“Chris Morgan, who wrote the script forHobbs & Shaw, recently reunited with Johnson on his infamous Christmas flop,Red One. During the press tour forRed One, Morgan confirmed that he waswriting a script for anotherHobbs & Shawmovie, but it’s unclear if it will ever materialize. After directingDeadpool 2just one year earlier,David Leitchwas tapped to helmHobbs & Shaw. He previously made his directorial debut onAtomic Blonde, the gritty action thriller starringCharlize Theron. He most recently helmedThe Fall Guy, the 2024 stunt film starringRyan Gosling, which came not long after he teamed up withBrad PittforBullet Train. Leitch is reportedly going todirect theGears of Warmoviethat’s in the works at Netflix.

During production onThe Expendables 3, Jason Statham got into an accident that almost cost him his life. Statham was driving a truck that had malfunctioning brakes, which led to him driving directly into the Black Sea with him inside the vehicle. Thankfully, Statham is in great shape and an experienced swimmer, which helped him get out of the vehicle without any injuries.
