Jensen Acklesfans unite. Today, Amazon has dropped the first trailer for theSupernaturalalum’s latest series,Countdown, and boy is it ever good to hear his raspy voice. The series, which also starsEric Dane(Grey’s Anatomy) andJessica Camacho(Bosch: Legacy),is on its way to give your summer the explosive boost of action that it deserves. Set for a premiere on June 25, the title will celebrate a three-episode premiere on the studio’s streamer, Prime Video, with new episodes to follow weekly, carrying us into fall with the grand finale on September 3.
Immediately portrayed as the kind of work partners that audiences love, Ackles’ Mark Meachum and Camacho’s Amber Oliveras exchange a speedy sarcastic back-and-forth at the top of theCountdowntrailer. Quickly feeding us more information, Dane’s character steps in and lays out the storyline which will essentially follow Mark, Amber, and the rest of their highly-skilled team as they do what they can to “prevent another 9/11”. The mission is as undercover as they come, with Dane’s character also referring to it as a “Chernobyl-level event,” placing the stakes even higher. Going undercover means plenty of costume changes (which we love) and the underlying feeling that not everything is as it seems, which is certainly an undercurrent throughout the debut trailer for what’s sure to be another hit for Prime Video.

In addition to Ackles, Dane, and Camacho, the series will also feature performances fromViolett Beane(Death and Other Details),Uli Latukefu(Young Rock), andElliot Knight(The Boys). The creator behindCountdownis certainly someone that procedural lovers will recognize, asDerek Haashas previously cut his teeth in the world of high-octane action thanks to his credits as an executive producer behindOne ChicagoandFBI.
Jensen Ackles and Prime Video — A Match Made In Heaven
Countdownmarks yet another pairing between Ackles and Prime Video, with the actor and streaming service previously working together on the hit series,The Boys. Ackles’ character, Soldier Boy, was a staple in the show’s third season and will return as what we’d imagine being a foundational pillar of the upcoming final season. He also popped into the debut installment of the show’s spin-off,Gen V, and was revealed to be leading his very own offshoot in the universe ofThe Boysthanks to the prequel project,Vought Rising. The latter will see him star oppositeAya Cash, who appeared as Stormfront in Season 2 ofThe Boys.
