The premiere date ofKaiju No.8Season 2 is closer than ever, which means that fans are more than ready to get hyped up with any new information that gets released. This week, Anime TV underscored that the hit anime series is returning for Season 2 this July and did it with a new image that has already sparked speculation. A specific release date for the new season is yet to be announced.
The image suggests a change of pace forKaiju No. 8.The show is usually frantic, but the image depicts a quiet moment. It shows protagonist Kafka Hibino (voiced byMasaya Fukunishiin the original Japanese and byNazeeh Tarshain the English dub) enjoying a snack while crouching down at a pier with the wind blowing by several fish-shaped balloons. Will the new season give Kafka some breathing room or is it just one rare moment that gets quickly interrupted by the arrival of another giant monster? We will find out in a couple of months.
Despite what the image suggests, the Season 2 trailer already hinted atsome action-fueled moments that are about to take place in the new season. One of the biggest developments is Kafka getting promoted to the First Division by Isao Shinomiya (Tesshō Genda/Christopher Wehkamp) as a means to create the most powerful monster-combating division ever. Isao will also recruit Gen Narumi (Kōki Uchiyama/Aaron Dismuke) and make him First Division Captain of the Defense Force.
‘Kaiju No.8’ Has Slowed Its Pace Before
The nonstop rhythm ofKaiju No.8was acknowledged by the franchise itself recently. When Season 1 wascompiled into the feature filmKaiju No. 8: Mission Recon, the theatrical eventcame with a bonus episodetitled “Hoshina’s Day Off.” In the episode, the team gets utterly lost because they have a rare day in which no disaster needs to be addressed, so they attempt to find reasons to get back into action as soon as possible.
Kaiju No.8is based on the equally popular manga series created byNaoya Matsumoto.Crunchyrollhas already announced that Season 2 of the platform will drop on the platform when episodes start rolling out, just like it happened with Season 1. The production team for the new season includesTetsuya Nishio(Naruto), who helms the animation and character design, andMahiro Maeda(Mad Max: Fury Road) is responsible for the inventive kaiju designs.

Kaiju No.8Season 2 debuts in July. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
