AlthoughMortal Kombat IIisn’t getting its first official trailer until tomorrow,Warner Bros. is hyping up viewers with a very different teaser for one of its stars' upcoming blockbusters. From New Line Cinema, the studio behind the very real smash hitsCool Hand Cage,Hard to Cage, andRebel Without a Cage, comes the movie everyone has really been waiting for —Uncaged Fury, the latest revolutionary action flick from theJean-Claude Van Damme-inspired icon, Johnny Cage. The video is just a taste of the high-octane martial arts thatKarl Urban’s Hollywood superstar is bringing to the table, filled with daring fight scenes, cool shades, and not enough guys to bring down the Cage. Just remember not to touch the sunglasses. Best of all, this can’t-miss epic is coming to theaters this October when the video game adaptation sequel hits the big screen.

Stylized likea classic 80s action movie, complete with a deep voice-over, era-appropriate music, andthe over-the-top Cage himself, the teaser opens with Johnny cornered in a warehouse by a bunch of thugs ready to take him down. However, as soon as he puts on his shades and flips off his foes at the same time, it’s clear that they messed with the wrong guy. He effortlessly flips through throwing knives, stops nearly every attack that comes his way, and even shows off his skills with a staff. Even when the goons land a punch and knock off his precious $500 sunglasses, that only serves to piss him off more and kick butt even harder. Of course, what would this cheesy action sequence be without Cage doing the splits mid-air to avoid an incoming missile that instead hits the gang’s helicopter? Clearly, he’s got the moves to make it in Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat IIwill be a test for Cage, with the fights becoming far more real than he’s ever dealt with and the opponents proving to be more than human. The sequel will pick upin the aftermath of the first film from 2021, with the titular tournament on the horizon and Earthrealm preparing its finest warriors to fight the forces of Outworld. So far in the promotional material,Urban’s take on Cagehas been the big star, teeing up a pivotal role for the character who, at least in the games, became one of Earth’s greatest champions despite his cocky nature. The film promisesfar more and lengthier fights than its predecessor, too, meaning plenty of chances to see Cage in action.

Who Else Is Joining the Fight in ‘Mortal Kombat II’?

Once again directed bySimon McQuoidwithJeremy Slaterpenning the script,Mortal Kombat IIwill also see the continuation of Cole Young’s (Lewis Tan) story as the fighter further explores his lineage. The film will alsohighlight the continued rivalrybetween iconic fighters Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim) and Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), with each playing key roles in the larger battle againstMartyn Ford’s Shao Khan. However, there’s a ton more screen time to be divided among the expanded roster of fighters who will test their might in this outing.Damon Herrimanwillnow be playing the evil necromancer Quan-Chi, withAdeline Rudolph,Tati Gabrielle, andAna Thu Nguyenjoining the cast as Kitana, Jade, and Sindel, and a returning group that includes, among others,Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Chin Han,Max Huang, andTadanobu Asano.
