Production on Season 2 ofLandmanis moving full steam ahead – and next week, it’s heading somewhere significant.Taylor Sheridan’shit Paramount+ dramawill be filming a major funeral scene on Monday, April 28, in the small North Texas town of Jacksboro, about 60 miles northwest of Fort Worth.Landmanbegan filming its second season in late March, kicking off on the TCU campus in Fort Worth before spreading out across downtown, the Cultural District, and west Fort Worth near JD’s Hamburgers.

Now, cameras will roll in Jacksboro, where Texas-based Legacy Casting has put out a call for extras, specifically looking for elderly men and women to fill out the mourners. No doubt the casting call demands an ability to look sad, yet still able to carry off a yeehaw.The casting notice doesn’t reveal which character’s funeral is being filmed– but fans of the show will have a pretty strong guess.

Whose Funeral Is Being Shot for ‘Landman’ Season 2?

In the Season 1 finale, oil tycoon Monty Miller (played byJon Hamm) dies after suffering complications from a heart attack. Monty’s death is a major event for the series: as the head of M-TEX Oil Company and the boss ofBilly Bob Thornton’sTommy Norris, Monty’s passing is expected to cause serious ripple effects in Season 2.

While it’s not officially confirmed that the funeral will be for Monty, all signs point in that direction – especially withDemi Moore’sCami Miller(Monty’s wife) set to have a much bigger role moving forward, according to Thornton. The first season, starring Thornton, Moore, Hamm,Ali Larter, andMichelle Randolph, premiered in November 2024 and wrapped up in January with 10 episodes, having been inspired byChristian Wallace’sBoomtownpodcast.The show has been describedas a “modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs.”

Season 2 will add a number of names to the cast of the series, includingAndy Garcia, who joins in a recurring role following a cameo appearance in the Season 1 finale, whileYellowstonespin-off1883alumSam Elliotthas also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
