Things are shaping up nicely forLilo & Stitch, which comes at a time whenDisneyneeded a hit after the recent release ofSnow White. TheRachel Zegler-led live-action Disney adaptation grossed only $205 million at the global box office, failing to even earn back its roughly $270 million reported budget, much less turn a profit. The studio has found moderate success with its first two Marvel releases of the year, however.Captain America: Brave New Worldgrossed $413 million at the global box office, andThunderbolts*, which is still playing in most theaters everywhere, has grossed $369 million globally.Lilo & Stitchwas produced on a reported budget of around $100 million, a total it has already earned back sixfold, meaning the studio has given itself some cushion for potential misses this year. It will likely be the first English film this year to his $1 billion.
