We’ve been reporting on theLost in Spacereboot being in development for some time, but now it looks like Netflix has made good on their plans with a 10-episode first season order. The one-hour, sci-fi drama takes its inspiration from the original 1960s series from creatorIrwin Allenwhich centered on the space-stranded Robinson family. The new version comes from Legendary TV and writing teamMatt SazamaandBurk Sharpless(Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter).Prison Break’sZack Estrinwill act as showrunner.
Fans will have to wait until 2018 to seeLost in Spacedebut on the streaming-content provider, but you can bet that all 10 episodes will be readily available for instant binging when they debut. And as a special treat for fans ofNeil Marshall’sTV work–like say onBlack Sails,Game of Thrones, andConstantine–he’s also set to direct several episodes of the series.

The synopsis forLost in Spaceis as follows:
[T]he show centers around the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons. Equal parts family drama and sci-fi adventure, it is a survival story for the ages.
