Amaya Espinal is a 25-year-old cardiac nurse who was born and raised in New York City. Amaya isDominican, and holds her heritage close to her heart. She has told fellow islanders “both of my parents were actually born in the Dominican Republic, and I’m the first generation to be born here. I’m heavy, heavy on culture. Even when I have my kids, let’s say my husband isn’t Dominican, they’re still going to know Spanish, they’re still going to know the culture.” On top of being a nurse, Amaya is also a successful model, and frequently shares her work on social media.
