For various reasons, CBS decided to hold theMatthew Gray Gubler-led series, Einstein, for the 2026-2027 TV season. The show had already cast two series regulars, but production will need to go back to the casting room to look for another actor to play Detective Maddie Paris. Deadline reports thatRosa Salazar, who was to play the character, has exited the project after the delay was announced. Salazar’s departure frees her from her contractual obligations, allowing her to pursue other projects that might be of interest. The decision to end her relationship with CBS Studios, as far asEinsteinis concerned, was mutual and amicable. If she had stayed on, she’d have been forced to wait until next year when the show resumes production, given that hiring for writing staff had been paused following the delay announcement.

InEinstein,Criminal Mindsalum Gray Gubler plays famed physicistAlbert Einstein’s relative. “Brilliant but directionless, the great grandson of Albert Einstein spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad-boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases.” Detective Paris was described as sharp and focused, and the arrangement with Einstein brought up complicated feelings. The show was based on a German series of the same name.
