It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No!It’sMcFarlane Toys' newSupermanaction figureforJames Gunn’s upcoming DC film.David Corenswet’s Man of Steelis finally cemented in plastic just three short months before the new DCU comes to the big screen. This reveal was all part of “Superman Day” this past week that kicked off the heroic merchandise bonanza.
A part ofMcFarlane’s DC Multiverseseven-inch-scale Deluxe Theatrical Editions Edition figure series, the popular toy company has brought Gunn’s andCorenswet’s Superman costumeto stunning life. Our first comic book superhero isn’t alone either, as he has his mischievousKrypto the Superdogby his side. The figure also comes with three alternate face plates, two extra heads, and a base. Like all DC Multiverse pieces, this Superman will come with a collectible art card as well.Pre-orders are available nowon McFarlane’s website with the figure being $37.99 USD. There will also be anormal standalone figure that just comes with Superman and a few extra hands, as well as a 1:6th scalePVC statuebased on the film. The figures are set to be released in June.

The Right of Super Passage
McFarlane Toys has spent the last couple of years making almost every Superman from across thecomicsand films. For the latter, they’ve done multiple versions of bothHenry CavillandChristopher Reeve’s Man of Tomorrow. As Corenswet’s tenure in the iconic red-and-blue suit is just beginning, so are all the action figures,Funko Pops, and collectibles that’ll be based around his version of the DC hero.
However, Corenswet’s Superman isn’t the only character to debut in the film. Justice League members likeHawkgirl (Isabela Merced),Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi),Supergirl (Milly Alcock), and Guy Gardner’sGreen Lantern (Nathan Fillion)will be saving the day alongside him. That means they’re destined to become McFarlane action figures themselves in the near future. The villains of the film,Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult)andThe Engineer (Maria Gabriela de Faría), are also fair game for that same treatment. Some have already been announced, like Lex Luthor and Mister Terrific. The film itself isn’t an origin story. This is an established Superman who’s deeply in love with his co-workerLois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan)in a complex world where “truth, justice and a better tomorrow” have become very muddled.
