The Rookiebrought back Liam Glasser (Seth Gable) inSeason 7, Episode 15, “A Deadly Secret,” as documentarians revisited Westview, the condemned hospital where he had sharpened his serial killer teeth. It was revealed that someone had been deliberately using some illegal drugs for unsanctioned experiments, which affected some people. One of Abigail’s (Madeleine Coghlan) final interviews included Glasser, who made a strong impression that he would appeal his case, citing the drugs as his defense. The development felt like a classic move by The Rookie, where it saves its villains for the future, and when asked about it, showrunnerAlexi HawleytoldTV InsiderGlasser could return down the line. However, “Not this season,” he said. “I think potentially going into Season 8. I mean, he’s such a great actor and such a great character, and we have not really ever taken anything to trial before on our show because we’re really a patrol show,” he continued, adding:

“But early days, we are talking about sort of like, is there more we can do? Is the sort of repercussions of that potential defense that we introduced in a sort of absurdist episode a bit, would it actually work? And so I do think we very much might see him again down the road.”

Bridget Regan reads off her phone as Monica Stevens in The Rookie Season 7.

‘The Rookie’ Still Has Villains to Bring Back

While Glasser might not be returning soon, viewers canexpect some familiar faces.Monica (Bridget Regan)and Oscar (Matthew Glave) have been absent for most of the season, but Hawley said they will return toward the end. “[Monica’s ] going to come back around again in a big way by the end of the season. I don’t want to get more specific than that, but yes, she’ll be coming back,” the showrunner said. She made a brief cameo inthe “Speed” episode, where it was revealed that she was up to something. Also up to something is Oscar. “I mean, absence makes the heart grow fonder a little bit, and Oscar does come back by the end of the season in a big way. We were telling a lot of stories, obviously, as you’ve seen this season, and it just felt like he fell later in the season rather than earlier,” he said. When asked what Oscar has been up to, Hawley replied:

“It’s all very spoilery. I can’t necessarily say what he’s been up to other than no good.”
