A Minecraft Moviefeaturedmany Easter Eggs for fans to catch. Some of them are subtle, and others are very obvious. But there is oneMinecraftreference that was revealed to be a last-minute addition, with Mojang revealing that the scene was supposed to go a different way if it wasn’t for time constraints. Warning: this article contains some spoilers.
Over on social media, Mojang’s Senior Creative Director of Entertainment,Torfi Frans Olafssonshared some behind-the-scenes details about a scene where Henry (Sebastian Hansen) hallucinatesthanks to an Enderman. He visions his family, friends, and Steve (Jack Black) confirming his insecurities and self-doubt. While it was well executed, a tiny VFX detail was a last-minute decision, which was Steve’s eyes. Unlike the others, his was not glowing purple; it was glowing white, which resembled theMinecrafturban legend character, Herobrine. According to this Mojang staff member, that wasn’t intentional; it was last-minute because the VFX team didn’t have enough time.

“It’s super strange that all of their eyes were supposed to be purple but when it was rendered one of the characters eyes kept coming out white in the final rendered frames so we wound up keeping it like that, because the VFX studio ran out of time.”
Who Is Herobrine in ‘Minecraft?’
Minecrafthas many enemies. Some are hostile, and some are passive unless provoked. Some of these enemies were seen in the film, such asCreepers, Zombies, Skeletons,Piglins, and, of course, the chicken jockey. But out of all the foes the players face in the game, there is one that is completely fictional, and Mojang seems to be aware of it.
Herobrine is an urban legend created byMinecraftfans. It is described as looking like Steve but has glowing white eyes. The rumor began when people would tell stories of a “strange figure” following or watching them in the distance in this single-player sandbox game and post videos of alleged sightings. While this character isn’t real, Minecraft update notes constantly reference the character, saying he’s been removed from the game. It seems this creature won’t stop haunting players, whether it may be in video games or the movies.

While Herobrine may not be real, fans would showcase their interpretations if he were a real foe in the game through various online content. In addition, the character was ranked 36th in theGuinness World Recordsfor “Top 5 Video Game Villains of All Time” in 2013.
A Minecraft Movieis now showing in theaters.
