Among the biggest stars of his generation,Russell Croweseems to be content doing things his own way now. He hasn’t headlined a tentpole in quite some time, but he’s sneakily been having a ball with B-movies such asUnhingedandThe Pope’s Exorcist. His fans must’ve been somewhat disappointed by his absence inRidley Scott’s long-awaitedGladiator II, a sequel to the classic original, which won Crowe a Best Actor Academy Award. But they seem to be satisfying their Crowe cravings by tuning into his final collaboration with Scott, the 2010 filmRobin Hood, which isclimbing up the streaming charts on Max.
According toFlixPatrol, the movie has been doing consistently well on Max this month, accumulating a total of 373 points. It found spots on the top 10 charts twice in a row. Positioned as a gritty reboot of the oft-adapted legend — it was released in the wake ofThe Dark Knight— the movie wasproduced on a hefty reported budget of $200 million. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, butopened commercially to mediocre reviews.Robin Hoodcurrently holds a “rotten” 43% score on the aggregator websiteRotten Tomatoes. It also underperformed at the box office, grossing around $320 million worldwide. Going by the rule of thumb, it should’ve made at least $400 million to break even.

Unfortunately,Robin Hoodmarked Crowe’s final time headlining a project of that scale. He played a supporting role inZack Snyder’sMan of Steel, and the titular role inDarren Aronofsky’sNoah, but neither of those projects can be compared toRobin Hood, which was touted as a return toGladiatorterritory for Scott and Crowe. They also worked together on the acclaimed period dramaAmerican Gangster, the romantic dramaA Good Year, and the political thrillerBody of Lies, which also featuredLeonardo DiCaprio.
Crowe’s Playing a Nazi in His Next Movie
Crowe’s last mega-budget film wasThor: Love and Thunder, fronted byChris Hemsworth. He appeared in an extended cameo as Zeus in the movie, which was produced on a reported budget of $250 million and grossed under $800 million worldwide. His last release was another superhero film, the disastrousKraven the Hunter, which will always be remembered as the final film in Sony’s doomed Spider-Man spin-off universe. Crowe will next star as the NaziHermann GöringinNuremberg, a period drama featuringRami Malekin the lead role. you’re able to watchRobin Hoodon Max, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
