A two-time Oscar-winner and iconicJames Bondvillain has joined Hulu’s beloved mystery series. Variety reports thatChristoph Waltzis the latest addition to the cast ofOnly Murders in the BuildingSeason 5. Waltz joinsKeegan-Michael Keyas the two newest membersof the cast, but details about both their characters and the plot for Season 5 are being kept under wraps. Season 5 is currently in production and is expected to be released later this year. Waltz and Michael Key will star alongside series veteransMartin Short,Selena Gomez, andSteve Martinin the fifth season ofOMITB. Steve Martin also created the series alongsideJohn Hoffman, with both of his co-stars, Gomez and Short, also producing.Dan Fogelman, creator ofParadise, is also an executive producer onOnly Murders in the Building.
A two-timeJames Bondvillain, known for squaring off againstDaniel Craig’s 007 inSpectre(2015) andNo Time to Die(2021), Waltz is also aQuentin Tarantinofavorite, famed for his roles inDjango Unchained(2012) andInglourious Basterds(2009) — both of which earned him his two Academy Award wins from his only nominations. Waltz was also nominated for an Emmy for his performance as Miles Sellers in the first season ofMost Dangerous Game, the short-form comedy series that comes fromScott Elder,Josh Haron, andNick Santora. More recently, Waltz starred alongsideLucy Liu(Red One) andCooper Hoffman(Licorice Pizza) inOld Guy, the action comedy fromSimon West, and he also featured oppositeDexter: Original SinveteranPatrick GibsoninThe Portable Door, a fantasy epic fromJeffrey Walker.
Has ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Won Any Emmys?
Only Murders in the Buildinghas won seven Emmys during its run for categories such as Music and Production Design, but that’s arguably not its most impressive achievement. The first season ofOMITBaired in 2021, and it’s now already four seasons deep, a feat almost unheard of in the modern age of television where it often takes two or three years between seasons. It’s only been a few weeks sincecameras began rolling onOMITBSeason 5, but with the show already confirmed to debut its newest season sometime this year, it could be coming much sooner than we thought.
