We don’t get as manystraightforward romances as we once did. Rom-coms are still thriving on streaming and with theoccasional theatrical release, but flat-out romance films have become a rarity. Sure, every once in a while we’ll get aPortrait of a Lady on Fire, anIf Beale Street Could Talk, or aGod’s Own Country, but those are few and far between. However, writer-directorCeline Songhas certainly done her part to keep the genre thriving, as her debut,Past Lives, was thebest film of 2023, earning Song an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture (although it deserved far more)....

Warner Bros. has released the final trailer forAquaman. The superhero’s solo movie is part origin story about how he’s the child of two worlds who trained to become king of Atlantis, and part adventure of trying to find a special trident that will save the underwater city. This is definitely the best trailer yet, not so much because of the plot involving the trident stuff (you knew this movie was probably going to have a macguffin of some kind), but because of how it looks....

At last, the final unknown masked man onArrowhas been revealed! The identity of Vigilante, who seemed like he could have been connected to Prometheus last season (but isn’t!), has come to light. As some predicted, Vigilante turned out to be Dinah Drake’s former partner (both professionally and personally) Vincent Sobel (Clayton Chitty), who she thought was dead after she saw him shot in the head by the criminal Sean Sonus. It turns out that no indeed, he just became a meta at the same time she did, and we saw him shot in the head once again — and live!...

When Universal Pictures first announced they would be bringing backThe Mummy, I’ll admit I was a bit nervous.
