The horror genre truly flourished in the 1980s. In an iconic decade that saw the biggest blockbusters, hilarious classic comedies, and the most explosive action movies ever brought to the big screen, horror continued to be a dominant force at the box office, turning out some of the most commercially successful and acclaimed movies in the genre’s history. From terrifying masked hockey-wearing slasher villains, to haunted hotels and, finally, to shape-shifting extraterrestrial monsters, the ’80s were full of highly rewatchable horror classics....

More often than not, they wind up in conflicts with their bordering neighbors, the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, and even Yellowstone National Park. In the beginning ofThe Mountain Between Us, you can tell that tragedy is brewing. Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Bass (Elba) and photojournalist Alex Martin (Winslet) have their flight canceleddue to a storm. However, Ben has an emergency surgery scheduled and Alex has to be at her own wedding, which prompts them to hire a private pilot. The problem is, Walter (Beau Bridges) suffers a stroke after their departure, and the couple crashes with the plane on the top of a mountain....

He’s been an active filmmaker for more than a couple of decades now, and has made arguably some of the best films of the 21st century to date, and right from the start of his career as a feature film director, too.Amores perros(2000) was a remarkable feature debut, and was followed up by the also compelling21 Grams(2003)....

American Horror Storyshines the most in the moments that make zero sense. From dance numbers with patients at an asylum to rants about the inappropriate use of knotty pine on the walls of a house, the series somehow always manages to succeed in the art of being weird. With just about as many cameos as there are episodes, it would seem like a tough task to figure out just which guest was the strangest of the bunch, but it turns out we only have to look to Season 3’s Coven for our answer....

The first season follows Sophie, played bySienna Miller, the wife of James, a powerful and respected politician. Her comfortable and privileged life begins to spiral out of control when details of her husband’s affair surface....

Arrival, one of the best sci-fi films in recent years, was recently rewarded by the Academy thanks to an amazingeight Oscar nominations, includingDenis Villeneuvefor Best Director and a Best Picture nod;a notable snub, however, was the lack of a nomination forAmy Adams’amazing performance of a satisfyingly complex lead character. The film was also a commercial success having raked in over $170 million globally since its November release. Now, Paramount is aiming to capitalize on awards buzz by giving audiences the opportunity to see this excellent film in theaters one more time, starting this Friday....

Sherlockis a stylish, clever, and uncommonly cinematic television take on a detective you may have heard of by the name of Sherlock Holmes. It also gave us the breakthrough performance ofBenedict Cumberbatchin the title role, whom we now see centering the MCU as that mysterious magic-man Doctor Strange, whom I might describe as “Sherlock Holmes if he could literally cast spells.“Sherlock, which originated on BBC in 2010 before blowing up internationally on Netflix, ran for four seasons — sorry, it’s British, so “four series” — and a one-off special....

It feels like eons since the last season ofBetter Call Saul, but its return is nearly here! AMC has released the first teaser as well as the first image for the new season, which predictably doesn’t reveal much (once they got into that habit withMad Menthey never really stopped). However, the tone of the teaser does suggest that things are about to take a more violent turn, now that Jimmy / Saul (Bob Odenkirk) is more involved with the world of Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito)....

Sony is going all-in on theirSpider-Manuniverse.THRreports that the studio has recruited screenwriterChris Yost(Thor: Ragnarok) to pen the script for a new film centered onSpider-Manspin-off characters Black Cat and Silver Sable. Yost will build on a previous version of the script that came fromWestworldco-creatorLisa Joy.Matt TolmachandAmy Pascalwill produce the film previously known as the “secret female spin-off project”. In addition to penningThor: RagnarokandThor: The Dark World,Yost created the character of X-23 (recently seen kicking all the ass inLogan) and got his start writing for Marvel’s animated series....
