If we’re all being honest here, nothing on the docket is even remotely as important to me asAlien: Covenantor, as a disturbingly large amount of people apparently refer to it as,Prometheus 2. LikeMission Impossible, theAlienfranchise produces films that put more stress on creating stylized, singular world than trying to maintain some dull, overworked continuity between the films. Sure, that seems to be less the case withPrometheus,Ridley Scott’s problematic yet highly entertaining return to the franchise following his classicAlien, but up to then, the Alien franchise produced four unique works by four great directors. These movies were capable of making up for even the most glaring narrative missteps with authentic, hypnotic vision, imagery that astounds even as the dumbest lines are uttered - I’m looking at you,Alien Resurrection.
So, the idea of Scott now continuing the story ofPrometheus, which spent quite a lot of time in the set-up, is tremendously interesting to me, and I was impatient to get a look at the new world of the Xenomorphs even before we got our first looks atKatherine Waterston,Michael Fassbender, andDanny McBrideon the set. And today, McBride shared a new set photo from the cockpit of the titular ship on his Instagram, showing him in what is assumedly one of the final days of shooting since the film is now in post-production. You can check out the image below, and try not to think about the fact that we’re still well over a year away from seeing the final product.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
