Netflix has released the first official teaser forWake Up Dead Man, the third installment inRian Johnson’s whodunnit mystery series. Things have been eerily silent on theKnives Outfront sincea new image ofDaniel Craig’s Benoit Blancwas released earlier this year. This teaser may be brief, but it could mean that marketing forWake Up Dead Manis about to ramp up. Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for the film, but both previousKnives Outmovies were released during the holiday season, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to seeWake Up Dead Manbe assigned a release date between October and December, similar to its predecessors.Knives Out 3wrapped filming last August, as confirmed by Johnson on his personal Instagram, so the film should be nearing the final stages of post-production.

Similar to the secondKnives Outfilm,Daniel Craigis the only one reprising his role inWake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Johnson has recruited a star-studded ensemble to feature alongside the bumbling detective, led by Marvel veteransJeremy Renner,Josh Brolin, andThomas Haden Church.Josh O’Connor, who starred alongsideZendayainChallengerslast year, has also been tapped for a role in the film, along withAlien: RomulusandCivil Warbreakout starCailee Spaeny. Other names attached to star inWake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out MysteryareAndrew Scott,Mila Kunis,Glenn Close,Kerry Washington,Daryl McCormack,Annie Hamilton, andKerry Frances. Little is known about the film at this time, but the new footage teases a much darker mystery to be solved thanGlass Onion.

Daniel Craig Wants a Theatrical Release for ‘Knives Out 3’

Netflix has yet to announce the release plans forWake Up Dead Man, but the most likely course is one similar toGlass Onion— a short theatrical release followed by a streaming debut a week later.Daniel Craig mentioned near the end of last yearthat he was“saddened”that there“isn’t more of a theatrical moment”for these movies, and one could easily argue that there should be. The firstKnives Outearned over $300 million at the box office, and the sequel was restricted to only $13 million thanks to its extremely limited release. Netflix will be leaving a lot of money on the table if it doesn’tgiveKnives Out 3a full theatrical release.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mysterydoes not yet have an official release date. Check out the first teaser above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film.
