If you opened this thinking “Methuse-whatzit?”, that might sound like a tall task. But the project has reportedly been a priority for Warner Bros. for quite some time, withTom Cruise’s name in the mix for the title role at one point. The movie would focus on the Biblical figure who managed to stay alive for more than 400 years; Oscar-winnerAnthony Hopkinstook on the role forDarren Aronofsky’s 2014 epicNoah. This WB project would re-tool the character with a kind ofHighlander-like bent, honing in on the idea that Methuselah has acquired a whole host of ass-kickin’ and mystery-solvin' skills across his many adventures through time.

Watts brought Peter Parker back into the Marvel fold in 2017 withSpider-Man: HomecomingstarringTom Hollandas Spidey. The globe-trotting sequel,Spider-Man: Far From Home, is due in theaters afterAvengers: Endgameon July 5.
For his part, Jordan has been as busy lately behind the camera with his Outlier Society banner—whichsigned a first-look dealwith Warner Bros. in January—as he has been in front of it. The actor served as executive-producer on Rooster Teeth’s anime seriesgen: LOCKand is currently developing aDetroit-set monster moviewithKong: Skull IslanddirectorJordan Vogt-Roberts. On-screen, Jordan recently signed on to star inA Journal for Jordandirected byDenzel Washington, as well as a reunion withBlack PantherdirectorRyan CooglerforWrong Answer, written byTa-Nehisi Coates.

The report notes that Watts and Jordan will soon start a search for a new writer onMethuselah. The latest draft of the film was byBeirutwriterTony Gilroy.
