‘Black Panther’: Angela Bassett Joins in Key Role
Not too many details are known aboutRyan Coogler’sBlack Panther, but one thing that has fans very enthused about the upcoming film is the impeccable cast they have assembled so far. This week we got news of another great addition to the ensemble withAngela Bassettnow joining the cast. Bassett has boardedBlack Pantherin the key role of T’Challa’s mother, Romonda. Just to remind you of the impressive cast, Bassett joins the talents ofChadwick Boseman,Michael B. Jordan,Lupita Nyong’o,Andy Serkis,Winston Duke, andForest Whitaker, among others.
More than how it fits into the continuity of the MCU, I’m excited to see howBlack Pantherintroduces Wakanda and its culture and people. But it’ll be interesting to see how the people of Wakanda will be dealing with the aftermath ofCivil War, especially since Bassett’s character will be processing a very personal loss.

‘Inhumans’ TV Series: New Details Revealed
Last week brought the reveal that anInhumansTV series was coming our way via a team-up of Marvel Television, Disney/ABC Television Group and IMAX, and now this week we are treated to an update in the form of a fewdetailsfrom the upcoming series. Up to this point the biggest detail had been that the first two episodes would be debuting in IMAX theaters before heading to television, but now we can add a little more information. TheInhumansseries will reportedly start off with eight episodes, of which the first two will be shot entirely with IMAX cameras and after the theatrical run will hit broadcast with extra content. Additionally, the series will shoot subsequent action sequences with IMAX cameras, with some of them taking place on the moon. AnInhumansmovie may be out of the picture for the near future, but it looks like we will still see these characters on the big screen, and they are certainly treating this series like a big event so I’m curious to see how it continues to move forward.
‘Arrow,’ ‘Flash,’ ‘Supergirl,’ and ‘Legends’ Assemble at the Hall of Justice in New Crossover Posters
The start of The CW’s crossover event that will bringArrow,Flash,Supergirl, andDC’s Lengends of Tomorrowtogether is almost upon us, and this weeknew postersreminded us of the occasion that will see the titular heroes go head-on against an alien invasion. The posters naturally feature each of the heroes accompanied by familiar faces and shares when each of the respective episodes will air. The posters do include a nice little treat in the background, and that is none other than the Hall of Justice, headquarters of the Justice League. Most likely the Hall of Justice inclusion is only a fun nod to the comics and nothing that will play out in the crossover event, but it’s still something nice to look at as a fan. The crossover begins withSupergirlon Monday, November 28th, followed byThe Flashon Tuesday, November 29th, thenArrowon Wednesday, November 30th, andLegends of Tomorrowon Thursday, December 1st.
‘Pacific Rim: Maelstrom’: First Set Photos Emerge
Pacific Rim: Maelstromis currently filming in anticipation for its 2018 release, and this week we got a small look at the production with the release of the firstset photos. These first set photos leaked online this week, revealingStar Wars: The Force AwakensstarJohn BoyegaasIdris Elba’s son in action. There’s really no context to go on, but Boyega seems to be on the run and in search of something in the scenes they were filming. I’m very curious to see how the story of this world continues after the events ofPacific Rimand where directorSteven S. DeKnightwill be leading this franchise afterGuillermo Del Toro’s first film.
‘Avengers’ and ‘X-Men’ Crossover Is an “Impossibility,” Says Marvel’s Kevin Feige
Ever since the announcement of the deal between Marvel Studios and Sony that led to the introduction of Spider-Man into the MCU, possibilities were left open regarding whether we would see the same thing happening with the Marvel properties for which 20th Century Fox holds the rights to. Recently that question has become particularly relevant with theX-Menfranchise, which appears to have lost some direction, but Marvel Studios headKevin Feigewas quick to end those speculations in somerecent comments. During an interview, Feige spoke about the possibility of a crossover with the X-Men, but he labeled the possibility of seeing the Avengers and X-Men together as an “impossibility” at this point. Feige went on to say that Marvel has their hands full with movies that would keep them busy for a “number of lifetimes.”
