Nyle DiMarco, Davis Guggenheim

Among the high-budget dramas and comedies that Apple TV+ so proudly boasts, the streamer also plays host tosome of the most fascinating documentaries on television. After the University Board of Trustees announced a hearing candidate as their next President instead of a deaf candidate, protests spiralled into a nationally covered event that would become a huge moment in the history of disability activism and representation.

One of the documentary genre’s jobs is to shine a light on pivotal stories that many may not have heard about. InDeaf President Now!, Apple TV+, alongside DiMarco and Guggenheim, are doing just that, with this awe-inspiring event captured with nuance. Speaking about the doc, DiMarco said,“For far too long, the disabilities stories that have shaped the United States have been conspicuously absent from the history we tell,“before adding, “This film not only preserves a pivotal moment in civil rights history but also celebrates the resilience of my Deaf community, whose triumphs deserve to be recognized, celebrated and remembered.”
