NCIShas touched onJessica Knight (Katrina Law)and Jimmy Palmer’s (Brian Dietzen) relationship since their infamous breakup inNCISSeason 21. The subsequent season did not pick a side on whether they wouldremain broken up foreveror might get back together. There were moments where it seemed like they weremoving on with other people, and other moments where jealousy lingered, and they seemed interested in getting back together. This is reflective of the writers' position on the couple. “What we’re probably not going to do is now they’re dating again and then they’re just dating again. We did that. We had that,” showrunnerSteven D Bindertold TV Insider when asked what they have planned for them in the upcoming season. “We ran with that and it went where it ended up going, which is someplace more interesting to a breakup and then seeing what it’s like to work witha coworker who you’ve broken up withor seeing them dating,” he said, then added:

“I want to ensure that this season is reflective of the fact they had a relationship and find a place that’s more interesting or conflict is the wrong word, because that sounds like I’m implying conflict between two of these characters, but I’m using that word in a dramatic narrative writer sense. Where’s it interesting? Where’s the conflict for this dynamic between these two? And I think we’re going to go there now. Could they end back together again? Absolutely. But for now, we broke them up to bring them to a new place. And we’re still in the process of going to that bench touchstone first before we figure out where we’re going to take us. We still have a little more to do.”

No Matter What Happens, Jimmy and Jessica’s Relationship Remains Core to ‘NCIS’

Based on the showrunner’s comments, viewers are looking a long road before the show takes a stand on the future of Jimmy and Jessica’s relationship. However, it’s undeniable that they still have chemistry, which starsDietzen and Law saidwill be constant throughout. “There’s definitely still chemistry and love and I think an underlying desire to want to get back together between the two of them. So I think you’re going to see that, no matter where our characters go in the future,” they said. The only way this ends is if someone moves or they get together.
