The Last of Uscreators have just addressed the lack of Seattle war connections in the second season. Through four episodes ofThe Last of UsSeason 2, there has been next to nothing shown ofthe war between the WLF and the Seraphites, who are also referred to as Scars. While this isn’t fully explored until the second half ofThe Last of Us Part II, there have already been a few scenes with Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Isaac (Jeffrey Wright). On the most recent episodes ofThe Last of Us Podcast, series creatorsCraig MazinandNeil Druckmannconfirmed that there will be some mysteries this season that won’t be explored until Season 3:
Mazin: The question is, what is Isaac pursuing. And these questions about this war may not be answered this season. There will be some mysteries.

Druckmann: Now that we’re renewed for season three, we could say,you will definitely get those.
Season 2 is slightly more confined than Season 1, lowering the episode count from nine to seven, which leads to some tough decisions regarding what makes the final cut. Mazin revealed that part ofthe reason the Seattle war isn’t fully exploredin Season 2 is due to the possibility that the show could have been canceled:

“That’s the thing. We just didn’t know if we were getting canceled, guys. We will absolutely find out exactly what they’re about, exactly what he wants, which is the most important thing to understand about characters, but there will be some mystery to sit with for a while.”
AlthoughThe Last of UsSeason 2 will not explore the war between the WLF (Washington Liberation Front) and the Seraphites, there are still other intriguing storylines to delve into.Episode 2 featured the traumatizing eventthat fans of the game know well, when Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) finally catches up to Joel (Pedro Pascal) and kills him. There were some slight changes here from game to show, as the series saw Abby stick a golf club into his neck instead of bludgeoning him in the head with it. The show also gives Ellie one final embrace with Joel’s body before they say goodbye forever.
