It’s a new year at Nevermore, which means new teachers to be wary of. After Marilyn Thornhill’s (Christina Ricci) duplicity inWednesdaySeason 1, the spooky academy needed a new music teacher.Billie Piperjoined the cast as Isadora Capri, trading in her sci-fi pedigree for something more ghoulish. As with most faculty members, Isadora appears to have something to hide, though at first glance, she tries to lend a helping hand.

Using her musical prowess, Isadora gives Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) some advice on her cello practice, but that isn’t the extent of her wisdom. Only four episodes ofWednesdayhave dropped, but this new character progression hints that there are more juicy details to come — particularly with her Outcast affiliation.

Who Is Isadora Capri, Really?

With the type of track record Nevermore has with red-headed teachers, it’s natural to be a little wary of this newcomer. In the first episode of Season 1, Wednesday seems to agree. After the teacher finds Wednesday fumbling with a piece on the cello, she advises that the student should lose control. Wednesday, on the other hand, is the epitome of control, so this new instruction rubs her the wrong way. But try as she might to throw her off her game, Isadora refuses to be deterred.

Matching Wednesday verbal barb for barb, the two come to some sort of understanding. It is Enid (Emma Myers), however, who may have the true connection with the teacher. For most ofWednesdaySeason 1, the young werewolf struggled with her hereditary powers, being the last of her family to finally transform. She was met with disappointment from all sides, but Isadora could be the mentor she was looking for. Confirmed as a werewolf herself, the new music teacher may be the type of mentor Enid needs. Nonetheless, nothing is ever easy in Nevermore, and Isadora remains one of these mysteries. Much more is meant to unfold in the coming episodes, but many of these plot threads should lead in interesting directions.

Enid (Emma Myers) turns into a pink-haired werewolf in Season 1 of Wednesday.

The Werewolf With a Past – and a Mission

It is unlikely thatWednesdaywould repeat the evil teacher trope from the first season, but that doesn’t mean that Isadora should be trusted completely. She has not been the most forthcoming with her past, based on her first conversation with Wednesday. The gothic musician noted that Isadora was a child prodigy, releasing her first classical album at only age 10. But when pressed on what made her leave it all behind, Isadora only gave vague answers. Hinting that she wanted to give back to her community, Isadora’s words should be taken with a grain of salt.

Wednesdayis known for its plot twists, and this could be just the beginning of many. The werewolf lore hasn’t been fully explored in great detail yet, and this could be the perfect opportunity. Isadora not revealing much about herself could mean that she’s at Nevermore for more than just education. With Enid severely lacking in the female role model department, she is open for a guiding paw to swoop in and teach her, whether for good or for ill.

Isadora Isn’t Just Another Nevermore Teacher

Wednesdaydoesn’t focus too much on Nevermore’s classes, so when a new teacher is introduced, it’s time to pay attention. Last season’s trial with Marilyn traumatized students, so it would be predictable if this territory were explored again. Instead, Isadora may truly be here to help the community. The question is, what community is she helping? Her allegiance to the werewolves could point in one direction, especially since Enid was not particularly connected to her family.

Wednesday, however, is also in need of tutelage. Her relationship with Morticia is more fraught than ever, especially with the revelation that Wednesday’s psychic powers could lead to danger. Her aunt Ophelia possessed the same gift that led to her untimely end. Isadora has already schooled her on embracing a lack of control, which may come to fruition down the line and could even mean saving Enid’s life. Wednesday has already indicated that she hasno interest in growing or changing in Season 2, so of course, she must. For once, a new teacher could be beneficial this time around, though fans will have to wait and see.
