After 27 seasons,American Pickersis entering a hiatus period, the first real break in 15 years, allowing the cast to explore new things and devote time to projects that they haven’t had time to take care of. Co-hostDanielle Colbyhasopened a museum dedicated to burlesque, a long-time passion of hers, whileMike Wolfehastaken on a few things, like a new History Channel show calledHistory’s Greatest Picks with Mike Wolfe. It also allows him time to restore an old 1930s motorcycle that he’s been sitting on for 7 years. What’s interesting is that over 15 years, Wolfe has made many, many connections that would seemingly make a project like this relatively easy. But Wolfe isturning to an unconventional sourcein his search for parts: his fans.
Wolfe loves antique motorcycles, as any fan of the show knows. In one episode, the American Pickers star paid out the largest amount in the show’s history,a cool $135,000, for five antique bikes found in a garage in Michigan. So the pickup of a 1930s Indian Privateer Hillclimber seven years back is certainly on brand, but turning to the fans for help in finding parts is decidedly not. Yet on May 23, Wolfereached out on Instagram, posting photos of the bike and saying, “1930s Indian Privateer Hillclimber I found about 7 years ago. Finally getting it out and looking for parts.“Then he drops the bomb. “Needs some wheels… What up DM me if Y’all have some.”

‘American Pickers’ Mike Wolfe Needs Parts, and He Hopes You Have Them
The phrase “what up” may be more antique than the bike, but whatever the case,Wolfe reached out, and his fans… well, his fans haven’t answered the call yet. They have been quite positive about the bike itself, however. One user simply declared, “Beautiful.” Another, clearly a fellow bike enthusiast, wrote, “Very similar to a Junior scout.” A different follower added, “This thing looks cool. I hope it comes together and keep everyone posted on the progress.” A much less helpful fan pointed out – to a guy who’s literally spent years on this kind of thing, but whatevs – that the bike, “Needs a shammy.” It needs more than a shammy, tips, but thanks for coming out.
Seeking out help from fans, though rare, isn’t unheard of by theAmerican Pickersalum. Earlier this year, Wolfe again posted on his Instagram account about his recently acquired Indian Prince Factory Racer motorcycle. “Would love to discover more of its history. The tank has the initials AC on it and the bike is an untouched time capsule. Any information would be invaluable to have to tell its story.” This led to one of his followers posting interesting details about the bike and a name they believed the 1920s motorcycle once belonged to. A man by the name of Mort Wood. Whether this new appeal by Wolfe results in him getting the allusive wheels for his Indian Privateer Hillclimber, only time will tell. But judging by his loyal and knowledgeable followers, there’s every chance he will get a positive response.
