Netflix has released the first trailer for theAmy Poehler-directed comedyWine Country, about a group of longtime friends who attempt to go on a relaxing vacation together that turns out to be anything but. Written byEmily SpiveyandLiz Cackowskiand produced byMorgan Sackettand Poehler,Wine Countrywill focus on a 50th birthday celebration for Rebecca (Rachel Dratch) that rolls through Napa with increasingly dramatic results.
The most interesting part of the movie, though, is that Poehler has said it’sbased on a real-life experienceamong theSNLpals, including “a couple of real trips these women took together, one of which was spent in an Airbnb in Napa Valley for Dratch’s 50th birthday a few years ago.”

Poehler became convinced these trips were fodder for a film “not only because these are the greatest, funniest performers,” she says, “but there’s just not enough films that take full advantage of what it’s like to be our age and to be around women that have known you for a really long time but aren’t competing for the same job or the same guy.”
And reportedly, no two straight men talk to each other at any point, allowing the women to drive the vast majority of the dialogue.DIG. In addition to Poehler and Spivey, the film also starsAna Gasteyer,Maya Rudolph,Paula Pell,Cherry Jones,Maya Erskine,Jason Schwartzman, andTina Fey.
