It’s been eight years sinceAndrew Garfield’slast solo web-slinging adventure inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2(directed byMarc Webb), but clamor for a third installment in the series has never been higher. This is in no small part based on the character’s heroic return via the record-breakingSpider-Man: No Way Home, in which Garfield’s Peter Parker teamed up with bothTom Holland’sandTobey Maguire’siterations of the character.

Garfield recently opened upabout his appearance in theJon Watt’sdirected threequel for the first time, admitting that he would return to the character ‘if it felt right.’ This got fans thinking about what they’d most like to see shouldThe Amazing Spider-Manever return to the big screen.

A Bigger Role For Black Cat - Don’t Waste Felicity Jones Again

Beloved comic book antihero The Black Cat is perhaps the most significant absence from all eight live-action Spider-man solo films. In the comics, the character has been a love interest, antagonist, and ally of Spider-man’s, and many fans were excited to seeFelicity Jonesstep into the role of Felicia Hardy inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Unfortunately, due to that films bloated run-time and excessive character list, Felicia barely received any screen time and never even donned the Black Cat mantle. It would be riveting to see Peter fall for somebody who walked the line between hero and villain in the wake of Gwen Stacy’s death as it made for some great comic stories over the years. Moreover, she already has some allegiance toDane DeHaan’sHarry Osborn, so there’s the possibility of a good old-fashioned love triangle on the horizon.

Peter’s Rage - When Did He Stop Pulling His Punches?

One of the main questions fans had in the wake of Gwen Stacy’s death at the climax ofThe Amazing Spider-Man 2was how it would impact Peter’s web-slinging hero going forward. Garfield’s appearance inNo Way Homedid provide some answers to this question, with the character claiming that there was a period of time in which he “stopped pulling his punches.”

Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man

Barring Tobey Maguire’s brief stint in the symbiote suit inSpider-Man 3, we have yet to see a cinematic Spider-Man really struggle with the darkness within. Allowing Andrew Garfield’s Peter to embrace his grief and rage would provide a genuinely unique Spider-Man experience and provide audiences with a more emotional viewing experience.

Miles Morales - Surely It’s Time

Back when he was on the press tour forThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, Garfield stated that he would love to introduce Miles Morales into a future sequel. He has likewise reiterated that the theme of mentorship was a big factor in persuading him to return to his web-shooters.

ThoughMiles Morales is an unquestionable fan favoriteand the central character in the Academy-Award winningSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, he is yet to make his live-action debut. If Peter needs something to distract himself from the Gwen-Stacy-sized hole in his life, why not spend his time mentoring the next generation of wall-crawler?

The Truth About His Parents - Was That Deleted Scene Real?

BothThe Amazing Spider-Manand its sequel spent a lot of time dealing with the mysterious circumstances of the death of Peter’s parents. Though they’re both in a plane crash at the sequel’s start, a deleted scene showed Peter’s father actually survived the crash. Given that this was a deleted scene, fans were left confused about whether it was canonical or simply something that should have been left on the cutting room floor.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Gustav Fiers

It would be nice to see a film that leans into this narrative, especially exploring whether Peter could forgive the man who abandoned him. Peter struggled with his identity throughout these stories, so it would be rewarding for fans to see the character finally discover precisely who he is and what he stands for.

The Gentleman - What’s His Plan?

Gustav Fiers, otherwise known as The Gentleman, first appeared in the post-credit scene in which he asked Curt Connors if Peter knew the truth about his parents. Fiers returned in a similarly small role in the sequel, visiting Harry Osborn in prison and taking a trip to the Oscorp basement, where he walked past several iconic Spider-Man villain costumes.

It’s safe to assume that The Gentleman would have played a significant role in not justThe Amazing Spider-Man 3but also in the scrappedSinister Sixfilm. What exactly made this character worthy of commanding a team of such iconic villains is unclear. Still, another installment in the franchise could do for him whatAvengers: Infinity Wardid for Thanos, fleshing him out and making him understandable.

The Daily Bugle Spider-Man

Peter’s Career At The Bugle - A Little More Than An Email Please

One of Peter’s most significant struggles in the comics is balancing his life as Spider-Man with his life as Peter Parker, and his job at The Daily Bugle is a vital part of that. Though Garfield’s Peter Parker has an evident passion for photography (he’s rarely seen without a camera around his neck inThe Amazing Spider-Man), his career at The Daily Bugle was never fully fleshed out.

It’s made clear that Peter is working at the paper as he receives an email from Jameson characteristically insulting the photos he has submitted. It would be interesting to see this struggle play out on the big screen, allowing audiences to see how much he is willing to sacrifice to be the hero the world needs him to be. While publicity forNo Way Homelaunched a Daily Bugle TikTokand made great use of real-world social media interacting with the Marvel Universe, the Garfield era left us wanting more.

The Sinister Six - Enough Teasing, Give Us The Sinister Six

Fans were left champing at the bit when the climax ofThe Amazing Spider-Man 2teased us with glimpses of both Doc Ock’s arms and Vulture’s wings. Those who are good at maths will know that these two villains, plus the Lizard (Rhys Ifans), the Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and Electro (Jamie Foxx), makes six terrifying villains.

Whether the team’s line-up would look like this is uncertain, given that both Electro and the Lizard are cured inSpider-Man: No Way Home, but that doesn’t mean the Sinister Six is off the table. Garfield’s Spider-Man has proven himself to be more than capable of taking down one villain at a time, and the only way these villains can really pose a threat to him is to join forces and work together. Even with years of experience, the Sinister Six might prove too difficult for Spider-Man to overcome.

Spider-Gwen: We’ve Waited Long Enough Now

Gwen Stacy’s death is one of the most emotional deaths ever seen in a superhero movie because of both her bravery leading up to her death and the incredible chemistryEmma Stoneand Andrew Garfield shared throughout the films. However, given the likeability of her character and Emma Stone’s box-office draw, it was unlikely that she would have stayed dead for long.

How exactly she would have come across her comic-book counterparts' spider-powers is anybody’s guess, but it’s safe to assume Peter would have played some role in reviving her. Maybe Peter’s father could use his inside knowledge of Oscorp to suggest a solution, or perhaps the answer lies in Peters aptitude for science. Either way, fans would be delighted to see these two reunite on the screen finally, especially if Gwen can fight crime by Peter’s side. After all, she was better than he was at science, so what’s to say she won’t be better at fighting bad guys too?
