We’ve still got quite a wait ahead of us beforeWonder Woman 1984finally arrives in theaters next summer. Fortunately, returning filmmakerPatty Jenkinsis her to keep the fans fed with a new look atGal Gadot’s Diana Prince all fancied up.Jenkins took to social media to extend a sweetbirthday messageto her leading lady and shared a new picture from the upcoming sequel/prequel, which picks up with the titular hero after the events of 2017’sWonder Womanand before her team-up days inBatman v SupermanandJusticeLeague.

Other than the general time frame, plot details are still being kept pretty tightly under wraps for the sequel, so naturally, any glimpse is gonna get the theories going. Some folks online seem to have pegged this as a callback to a comic book storyline that saw Diana lose her powers for a bit and take up the martial arts, and that’s certainly possible considering the popularity of Easter Eggs in superhero films, but personally, I think Diana just has impeccable taste. I’m not getting martial arts from this, I’m getting fashionista vibes. But who knows. Check out the photo below and see what you think.

The bright pops of color certainly line up with what I saw at Comic-Con last year, where Jenkins and Gadot revealed the first footage fromWonder Woman 1984. It was only a brief tease, but it was all kinds of bright and beautiful, with zany, feel-good energy to spare. Here’s the breakdown from my report at the time:

This is undeniably a different vibe for the DCEU films to date, brighter than ever and almost a little silly, to be honest. Wonder Woman 1984 is full-blast goodness and positivity, with a candy-coated 1980s polish. As for the setting, Jenkins explained that eras act as metaphors and the 80s were in many ways humanity at its best and worst. “It was grand and wonderful with great music, at the same time we were revealing the worst of us,” Jenkins said, pointing to the Cold War and threats of nuclear escalation as some examples of the latter.
